Every day, social enterprises in Berlin make an important contribution to making our city more inclusive, social, and sustainable. Since 2022, this award has recognized companies whose business activities aim to create a socially responsible, sustainable, and future-ready Berlin. The award is organized by the Social Economy Berlin initiative and supported by the Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Energy, and Enterprises.
IIn the three award categories – People, Planet, and Transformation– three social enterprises per category were honored in November 2024 for having already demonstrated a positive impact in and around Berlin.
The first-place winners received a prize of €5,000 each, the second-place winners €3,000 each, and the third-place winners €2,000 each. In addition, all nine companies received a one-year membership at Impact Hub Berlin.
The awards went to companies that identify with the following concepts:
- „Impact Economy“
- „Social Entrepreneurship“
- „Collective Enterprises”
- „Social and Solidarity Economy“
It was important that the company, through its business activities, pursued purposes oriented toward the common good and thus acted as a driver of the social and ecological transformation of the economy.
